We have chooks!
Friends of ours are doing a major renovation of their backyard, so we're looking after their four chooks for six months. They arrived at lunchtime yesterday, and seem to have settled in very well, already giving us two eggs!
I'm not sure what breeds they are, but three are what I think might be Isa Browns, and the other is a lovely speckled dark brown one. While it will take a bit of time to get used to including the minimal chook-care tasks into our day, it seems we will very quickly benefit from the eggs, reduced food waste and toddler entertainment value!

Awesome! I can't wait to get chooks at the new house. Enjoy the eggs! Vic xx
Oh yay! How fab. No rent-a-chook for you...
My partner is really keen to get chooks... but I can't say that I'm that keen. I don't really like eating eggs... unless they're in a cake!!! I look forward to hearing more about how they settle in.
Enjoy the eggs!! I am jealous.
They look great in the backyard and happy too - eggs already - they must really feel at home. Enjoy the eggs - If I did not have a duck loving dog hunter I would have chooks (she would not harm them - she would however spend all day springing them and never laving them alone - humm - non laying chooks are useless to all including themselves)
and they make such a welcoming sound - all that clucking !
Beautiful looking chooks. Next on our to do list after we finish our mini reno is to build a chookhouse so we can get some too.
