A conundrum....

Today I'm hoping to catch up on reading some of the blogs I've been neglecting for the past couple of days, and DO SOME SEWING!! We've had family staying with us for the past few nights who don't know about my blogging habit, so I've been sneaking in quick blog updates for Blogtoberfest when they've been distracted!

Homebaked bread. Completely unrelated, but I can't bring myself to have a picture free post! I did make it a couple of days ago, and managed to remember to take a picture before it was all gone! It was yummy, too :-)

It raises an interesting conundrum about the congruence (or lack of) in having a significant area of your life that is not known by (most of) the people that you're close to in person, if you know what I mean. It kind of feels a bit like keeping a big secret, without really having a good reason for doing so. Part of me is worried that they'll think I'm weird (hang on, they know that already ;-)), or maybe I'm worried that people I know wont like the stuff I'm making/doing? I don't know! At the moment it's still kind of a secret. Mostly.

What about you? Does the world know about your blogging habit? Why or why not? I'd love to know :-)

I kept my blog a secret for about a whole week! People start to wonder why you're taking 30 photos of something and why you're laughing at the compoter screen... most of my family got bored with my writings after a few months and don't even bother to read it anymore.

My parents both have blogs as do 2 out of 3 of my sisters. A lot of my friends have blogs (often that's how we know what's going on in each others' lives). I still have friends that ask me why I do it or how I have time but before I had one I didn't get it either.

Yep, I'm with you, definately a secret blogger still. Maybe its that I'm a newby, maybe its that this crafty thing is completely different from what my friends do, maybe I'm a little shy, maybe I think they won't understand and I'll spend ages trying to explain it and they'll just look at me funny anyway. But I tell you what, I have been sewing for years and I love my blog because it gives me an avenue to share what I previously kept to myself, and it helps me connect with others like me out there and bounce ideas etc which is just great.

Oh that bread looks amazing! Seriously impressed.
I'm out and proud with my blog. Well, to the extent that people know I blog, and those who are interested check it out. I frequently get surprised by people saying 'oh, I saw XYZ on your blog'. Some friends have a look, some don't depending on interests. But I don't advertise it or force it on people. Mostly my family doesn't read it I think. But if they do, well, they'll just get to know a bit more about me, won't they?

I keep it a secret from my workmates ~ mainly I think because they would be absolutely surprised at what I do in my spare time and I don't want to be judged on that (it's a tad bloky). But some of my friends read it, my family don't really understand "the whole blogging thing" but it's no secret. Although I had some trepidation with what they would think about it. So I completely get where you are coming from though.

Such an interesting discussion Anna. It's funny how we published things on the WORLD WIDE web but feel that it's still secret! I guess with anonymity comes some element of privacy. I tell people who I think would be interested from a craft perspective or if it comes up in conversation. So it's not a secret but I don't scream about it to anyone who'll listen. Maybe think about why you are blogging. If it's for you, then no one needs to know. If it's about you, then I'm sure the people who love you would enjoy reading about what you are up to.
