My creative space

Today I'm rediscovering that I'm very skilled at avoidance.
I'm up to the button holes. They're really scary!! I'm pretty sure that once I do it, I'll wonder what I was fussing about (like with most things), but right now I'm still in the midst of the avoidance phase. I think I'll go and buy some more knitting needles instead....

For some productive (rather than stalled) creativity, visit Kirsty.

A button hole foot certainly makes the process much easier & more enjoyable. Good luck.

Sometimes it is good to pause before you launch yourself into something new! Putting it like that it's not so much avoidance as practicality! Have fun xo

Good for you for going for it! You can do it!

I thought those clothkits were meant to be really easy. I wouldn't consider a button hole a basic sewing skill. But I agree once you master it you'll be hooked (or buttoned up!).

Avoidance is actually a very intelligent strategy in any arena! Love the look of your button attachment - wish I had the nerve to try out one of those! K

Buttonholes aren't fun but when you get them right they feel great.

Can't wait to see this dress finished. I just love it

PS: My boss makes a lot of her own clothes and has revealed to me that you can pay people to do your button holes for you!

It probably isn't avoidance but just thinking time so you get it right! Maybe a few practise ones might help build your confidence.... good luck.

Well you're a good girl for attempting something with buttonholes in the first place. I've still managed to avoid all buttonholes and zippers to date. Wishing you luck and chocolate.

I used to be terrified of buttonholes. But once done they aren't so bad. I always practice on a scrap first to make sure I have the size, etc. right. Good luck.

I was exactly ike you... I hated buttonholes and would put it off till the kids had outgrown the item ahhhhh!! But the one step buttonhole function on my machine makes it super easy.... I can't remember why I used to be so nervous now.... I am sure you will be the same once you get going...goodluck ;)
